Superhydrophobic leather could be considered a natural technical textile, waterproof is coupled with high natural breathability and possibility to wash in the washing machine.

The excellent waterproofing derives from stoichiometric tanning process that allows to functionalize the whole threedimensional collagen matrix of the leather. The treatment are not limited to the surface, with an effect time-limited and linked to the wear of textile surface, but single collagen fibres even in the inner layers, are homogenously coated with hydrophobic agent.
